First check to see if you have the correct key. Yea, Yea, I know, but it happens. Second, spray some WD40 or Liquid Wrench into the lock at the key hole and the lock on the side of the door. Could be dirt build up and that will fix it. Also check the locking clasp on the doorside if the door is unlocked the clasp should be in the open position. If it is in the closed position push it downward with your finger or screwdriver and spray it with Lithium (White) Grease. If not then the bar inside the door has become disconnected and needs to be fixed. Buy a Haynes Repair Manual for this model vehicle and follow the instructions, or take it to a trusted mechanic and let him fix it or replace the locking mechanism. Good luck.
Take out the "Door lock fuse".
Remove the inside door panel. Remove the door lock linkage. Remove the door lock barrel retaining ring. Reverse the process to install the new door lock.
in the door lock/latch.
try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to reset the alarm.
What? Barn door lock on a Yukon????
No I have a 2001 vw jetta and the remote will not start the car. You can buy a customized alarm system that will allow you to remotely start the car. A Vw does have remote door unlock and lock
If your Battery is low the alarm will go off. You can also pull the Neg. battery cable to reset. BUT have someone standing by the drivers door with the key in the door lock. It must be turned once the reconnection is made. This will reset the alarm. If that doesn't work you will need to look for broken or loose wires with a wire diagram of the alarm system.
The door does not lock with the "door lock" button from the inside to prevent locking your key inside of the car. Simply turn the key in the door when you close it to lock all the doors.
if it's like older jetta's or most imports you need a special tool{or a channel lock pliers} to turn the piston back in
it opens by the door key passenger side lock and unlock twice and then open the gas door stupid right
The door lock, on your 1999 Mercury cougar, can be replaced by removing the inside door panel. The locking mechanism is easily visible and can be changed.
