When you step on the breaks the reverse light comes on and the breaks make a crackling sound in your 2000 Toyota Camry?

Your break pads/shoes and/or rotors has to be replaced. Some rotors can be repolished and used in the future.

On a '94 Plymouth Voyager why would the brakes sound like they are worn down even after changing brakes and rotors twice?

Because they are. I have a 2000 Voyager, which did well for about 44,000 miles. Then I had to have the rotors and front brakes replace. I went 22,000 miles, and needed them again. Then I went only 6000 miles and needed them again. At that point I complained, and they said perhaps the calipers were sticking, and so I paid to have the calipers replaced, as well as the rotors and brakes again. My adult daughter, who had been out of the country while this was going on, returned at that time, and bought the car from me. She became the sole driver, and 2000 miles later, the brake pads needed to be replaced, and the rotors needed to be machined. They suggested it was our driving habits, but since each of us was the only driver of the car for one of these periods, I can prove that is not so. Today we had to take it back after only 1,300 miles, because it sounds like the rotors are shot again. I think Chrysler has a problem, and we as consumers need to make them aware of it. Autumn for the 94 caravan brakes, you should try replacing the rubber hose.I know lots of people had same problem and this fixed it . the hoses block inside, fluid comes out but will not go back. good luck.

Reasons Why You Should Replace Rotors?

There will come a time when you have to replace your rotors. The rotors are an essential part of your car’s braking system, as the brake pads grab on to the rotor, using friction to slow down and stop your car. While rotors do not need to be replaced as often as brake pads, they still require regular servicing in order to remain an effective part of the braking process. There are plenty of reasons why you should have your rotors replaced. One reason is that over time, rotors can become suspectible to developing grooves and gouges, especially if brake pads are not changed in time. As the brake pads wear, there is a greater potential for the pad hardware to come in contact with the brake rotor. When contact occurs, deep grooves can be scored in the surface of the rotor. Eventually, the rotor will have a number of deep grooves that can interfere with normal braking. If you can feel deep grooves in the rotor surface with your fingernail, then your rotors need to be replaced. Warping from excessive heat can be another reason for replacing your rotors. Rotors are also tasked with dissipating heat that is caused by the friction of the brakes. When the rotor material becomes too thin, the rotor can lose its ability to channel heat away from the brakes. Excess heat can cause the rotors to warp, leaving what should be a perfectly flat surface looking more like a warped paper plate. The warping is minute to the naked eye, but it often presents itself as excess pulsation when the brakes are applied. Rust is also another reason to replace your rotors, especially if you have a vehicle that has been sitting outside for a long period of time. As the rotors are kept exposed to the elements without the benefit of friction keeping the surface clean, surface rust can develop on the rotor. Rusted rotors are definitely not as effective when it comes to stopping a vehicle.

ABS and brake light comes on while driving?

If the ABS and brake light are coming on while driving, this is an indicator that it is time to get your brakes checked and replaced. If not, the brakes will wear out causing you to not be able to stop.

Why do the front brakes and rotors go out and nothing on the back brakes on a dodge diesel 2500 series This is a 2000. Thanks for any help.?

the main reason for your brake problem is that Chrysler did not supply the trucks with adequate brakes from the get go..the rotors are to small ,and get warped easily, they get hot fast ,if you hit a mud puddle or rain after they are hot your rotars warp, calipers also are not adequate either. and the main reason for your fronts needing more repairs and more often is the fact that 70% of your brake stopping power comes from the front verses the rear brakes, they are aftermarket companies that offer larger rotors and calipers for this vehicle. might want to pickup a truckin magazine

What causes the brake pedal to shudder and you hear a popping or grind sound from the brakes of a 2003 Rendezvous and the AWD disabled light comes on occassionally?

Mine did that I replaced the abs sensor.

When you step on the brakes the light on the dash comes on The fluid is full and the pads and rotors are good?

In the XJ6 and earlier (don't know about later cars), there is a pressure sensor which indicates low fluid. When this sensor is bad, or there is air in the line near the sensor, the light will light up when you put your foot on the brakes. Fully bleed the brake system and re-test.

You have a 1990 toy Camry le when you step on the brakes the light light on dash comes on but you already replaced the bad build and all the light r workingwhats wrong?

When you say the "light on dash" I am assuming your brake warning light. This can be a number of things, not your brake lights. A quick easy check is your fluid level in your master cylinder. A low fluid level will the light come on. When you press your brakes, the fluid level will drop (fluid travelling to the four brakes), when you release the brake fluid is drawn back into the master cylinder. I would check that first.

How do you know what correct rotors to put on a 2002 Saturn LW200?

As far as rotor options, you really only have 1. The 2002 Saturn LW200, along with basically all saturns were only produced with 1 rotor option from the factory. In this respect i mean, there is no option for say a "Standard Duty" or "Heavy Duty" rotor. However, there will be options in the quality of the rotors. for example, Autozone will offer their "Duralast" rotors as their "High quality" rotor, and also offer their "Valucraft" rotors as an "Economy" rotor. When choosing quality, remember... you get what you pay for. the Economy rotors may not meet factory specifications as to the thickness of the rotor, or the grade of steal used to produce the rotor. When it comes to brakes, dont cheap out, get the good rotors, Duralast, Rabestos, Wagner, Aimco.

How do stop a 2002 Ford Taurus from squealing?

"Squealing" is usually from the belt or brakes. use belt conditioner to stop a squealing belt.(usually sold at walmart) you can probably figure out how to stop squealing brakes. but if not they need to be replaced. people need to start reading those owners manuals the car comes with.

Mercedes 560 1985 the light between the battery and brake light comes on when appling the brake?

That light coming on when you apply the brakes is your brake sensors, from the front brakes, telling you that it's about time to replace the front brake pads. You still have some time to replace the pads and sensors, maybe a thousand miles would be my guess. Depending on the wear on the rotors (check the lips on the outside edge of the rotors) you might only need to replace the pads, and not the rotors. It's not recommended to turn these rotors, but replace them. It's cheaper to just swap the rotors. You can pick rotors up for under $40.00 each, and pads for around $35.00. Sensors are under $10.00 for the 4 you need. And then the brake grease to apply on the back of the pads is only a few dollars. So for around $125.00, you can have a front brake job, providing you're doing the work yourself. If you take it to a garage, it will cost $3-350.00. Dealerships will probably charge you at least $500.00.

What are ebc brakes and how are they used?

EBC brakes is a company that produces brakes for your car, truck, motorcycle and even for military vehicles. They are used just like ordinary brakes. They are actually just normal brakes, the EBC comes from the company name.
