CHECK THE FEUS BOX IT SHOULD BE THE ONE UNDER THE HOOD OR CHECK YOUR MANUAL IN FEUS SECTION
I am not so sure about the above answer. There is a switch attached to your brake. That may be bad. Then there is the shift lock solenoid under you shifter. You can manually open it and it will allow you to shift out of park. To fix that part you must by it from GM. And it is like 300 bucks. I just disabled the shift lock. Works everyday.
transmission shift bolt loose try pushing gear shifter all the way back to park
If your 1993 Pontiac Grand Am will not shift into part, the transmission is probably seized up. The first step is ensuring the transmission fluid is not too low.
shift lock is malfunctioning. you can bypass it there is a little "switch" on the side of your shifter for this purpose. that should help temporarily i believe there is a sensor to tell it when to shift out of park and that when this malfunctions you're stuck in park
my Pontiac keeps getting stuck in park
Into Park or out of Park?
If you have an auto trans, check to make sure the car is in park. If the shift lever is even slightly misaligned, (even though the indicator says PARK) your key won't come out.
1997 Buick park ave
does my 1996 pontiac ga stall out in park
Check for a blown fuse.
Check to see if the stop lights are working- shift interlock and stop lights are a common circuit. If not working check the fuse and operation of the stoplight switch. Try turning key to 1st position (unlock) without starting vehicle, shift to neutral to start vehicle and then shift to "Drive".
the ignition lock cylinder is bad
Prevents the vehicle from starting in other than Park or Neutral
