5W30 (for warmer climates you can use 10W30 or even 10W40) conventional oil or synthetic blend (Nissan does not recommend full synthetic). Make sure it is API Certified SM or SN. Change conventional oil every 3750 miles, synthetic blend every 5000 miles. New oil filter with every oil change.
Perhaps similar to my problem in forward . Transmission slipping, Get a Xmission fluid and filter change every 40,000 miles. Sable and Tauras have been known to have Xmission problems.
I will change my oil from conventional oil to synthetic oil on my next oil change.
Use 5W30 synthetic and you'll never have a problem. Change oil every 5000 miles and that engine will outlast the body.

If it is the synthetic blend, you should change the oil every 3,000 miles. If it is a full synthetic, you should change the oil every 5,000 miles.
The Owner's Manual specifies 10W-30. I use Quaker State Full Synthetic but traditionally, one uses non-synthetic engine oil for a 4-cylinder engine. As long as you use 10W-30, you really can't go wrong. Try not to mix synthetic and non-synthetic oils. Check what was used in the last oil change and use as close to that as you can.

I would recommend you use 100% Synthetic and change the oil/filter every 8,000 miles if you drive mostly on the highway and every 5,000 miles if you drive mostly city.
