93 ford ranger won't start after hooking up battery backwards?
Check the fuses. By hooking it up backwards, you may have blown many fuses, and/or completely damaged the vehicle wiring system, and/or shorted out the starter motor.
What happens if you connect the ground wire to the terminal and the red wire to the - terminal on the car battery ie connect the battery backwards but did not start the car?
If they are hooked up right and the motor won't turn over, you could have a bad battery cable in the car you are trying to start. Try hooking the negative jumper directly to the motor block, if it starts then, you have a bad ground cable. If not, try hooking the positive jumper to the terminal on the starter.
If you don't keep an otherwise good battery charged in freezing weather it can freeze and break the case. If your battery won't hold a charge because something is draining it, you should disconnect a cable and charge it then reconnect it before you try to start the car...or fix whatever it is that is causing the draw. It is better to keep the battery charged so you can start the car when needed. Consider…
When i turn the key to start 1985 corvette nothing happens no dash lights no headlights nothing no click sound?
Solid state components resist in one direction and conduct better in the other direction. You have fried some transistors and chips. The starter and solenoid system handles more current than solid state electronics can handle. It's a simple system of coils and relays. It is not polarized and does not care about negative and positive. It hasn't changed since 1905. You have shorted out a lot of electroncs. If you're lucky then fuses blew when…
1. connect red booster cable to weak battery POSITIVE post. 2. connect red cable to POSITIVE post on booster battery. 3.connect black cable to booster battery NEGATIVE post. 4.make final connection on engine block of stalled vehicle away from the battery. STAND BACK,start vehicle and remove cables in reverse order of connection by disconnecting engine block connection first.
Your 2001 ford ranger xlt wont start doesn't have the dummy lights on the dash why wont it come on no power to the windows?
Connecting a battery backwards takes some effort as the terminal are different. If u do, the computer systems may not be too happy resulting in a LARGE repair bill. If u try to start it more trouble is at hand since the starter won't engage and if it does it will run backwards. The generator diode will also not be happy and may turn very black.
Depending on what you mean there are two answers. A car being jumped with cables on backward will short out the car either blowing the electrical system and or causing sparks. If you are installing a battery in your car and you put the cables on backwards then you will either drain the battery or short out the car.
Why would a starter on an 89 ranger work fine one day and then try to start as soon as the battery is connected the next?
Ford Ranger 2001 4-cylinder sometimes won't start battery alternator wires wires to battery and starter are good?
Why would a vehicle not start after being driven daily and running fine 2002 ford ranger edge v6 engine turns over fine but does not even try to start?
It is rather easy to change once you locate it. The positive cable goes from the battery to the solenoid. There will be two large posts on the solenoid and one or two smaller posts on the solenoid. Just remove the wires and put them back on the new one in the same location. Make sure you remove one of the battery cables from the battery before you start so you don't short anything out…
Why wont your 1998 Ford ranger start all you hear is a click it has a new starter and the battery is fully charged?
You have a voltage drop in either the positive or negative battery cable. Clean all of your cable end connections ( at the starter, the engine block and again at the battery terminals).
