The valve-train will certainly make a noisy clicking/tapping sound if there is not sufficient oil pressure to keep everything bathed in oil. The fact that the oil light keeps coming on makes the low oil pressure scenario seem likely. Not sure what the AC would have to do with it. If the light is coming on only when idling, it could be that the AC being switched on increases the engine rpm enough to boost the oil pressure to satisfy the oil pressure switch and turn the light off.
It could be that you're extremely low on oil, or there is something wrong with the oil pump, filter, or oil passages. Or worse, a crack in the block, head, or a bad head gasket, which is causing an internal oil leak (causing the oil flow back to the pan without reaching its full destination).
BTW, operation with low/no oil pressure is EXTREMELY destructive to your engine!!! Don't drive it 'till it's fixed, or you'll be needing a new car/engine in no time flat!
you may have leaves in the fan
Bad Battery: the clicking is the starter solenoid relay making contact but the battery is not putting out enough amps to turn the starter
Your flasher relay box may need to be replaced, but could also be an electrical short.
low on freon. have an a/c check. most likely there is a leak in the system due to the age of the vehicle.
central airconditioner makes a clicking noise when running? any idea what to check?
Sonar and more escort warships
I actually had this problem with my first xbox. It turned out to be the hard drive.
Several things could be going on, so I will try to help, though more info is actually needed. The first thing that I can think of is if the battery is too weak the symptom may be that the engine does not actually spin over while trying to start the vehicle, but you will hear a rapid clicking noise coming from the starter relay when the key is turned to the start position. If this is not it, then I need to know more, like, does the engine actually spin over? is the clicking occurring with the key turned on or off? Stuff like that.
Have you checked the fuse block, for a blown fuse.
could be that the door is open or one of the sensors says the door is open
A very low (but not quite dead) battery will do that. It's the starter relay trying to work.
it could be a part of the cd preparation process.its accessing the discs before the ignition is started so that theresno delay accessing all tracks
