I have Honda Accord EX Coupe 2001. My SRS light came on due to seat belt assembly. You need to get that replaced and the light will be off.
At first i thought it was due to the recall but after having that unit replaced the light remained on. Dealer told me that it was due to the part where you click your seatbelt and needed to have that replaced.
As for manually resetting it without fixing the problem, as far as i know (i could be wrong), there is a spark sequence and would be difficult to do and since i DID do that, the light will come back on so save yourself the hastle.
The SRS light can also be on because there is a problem with the air bags. Have this repaired by a professional. This is not a DIY repair due to the hazards of working on this system.

With the ignition switch off, press and hold the odometer reset button in, then turn the ignition switch to the on position but do not start the engine. After around 5 seconds the maintenance required light will go out.
