Slave ships were a large cargo used for transporting slaves to different country's . The slave ships were awful places and many people women , men and children were chained up and placed in a room on the ship . The people had to sit in there wee and poo and people who had died would stay there for 3-4 days before someone would clean them up.
it's often said that the slaves in the slave ships were treated very badly, however, it's very hard to tell if this is true as most people who tell us about the slave ships are unreliable.
the slaves were often packed ontop of each other, chained together and were given only a few inches of room. there were shelves to hold up the slaves and it was almost impossible to move. the food they were given was often disgusting, but if they didn't each it, then the ship's crew would whip them or use mouth openers to force the food in. the slaves were often forced to jump and sing whilst in their chains to "keep their spirts up" and if they didn't, they were flogged. many tried to commit suicide whilst on the ship, but if any slaves caught diseases, they would all be tied together, attached to a heavy bag of stones and thrown overboard, so that they wouldn't be able to swim back up.most slave ships carried more slaves they were designed to carry as slave traders only wanted more money.
this is what most sources say about slave ships but none are truly reliable as they're all mainly biased.
