On the underside of the car on the passanger side. About mid way. There is a cable that splits into 2 different cables, going to each back wheel. Release the brake and then adjust the tensioner until you get some tightness but not too much tension on the cable. You dont want to pull it tight unless the brake is on.
If you gp to the end of the tension and still have no brake it might be too worn. or mis adjusted in the wheel drum. Loosen the tensioner and then check the drum adjustments.
How do you adjust parking brake on 2004 chev 2500 series 4x4
you need a new brake pressure differential switch
Apply your parking brake a bunch of times.
You need to adjust the cable on the brake.
I installed a new e.brake shoes on a 2000 Chevy silverado 1500 4x4. Now I don't know how to adjust the cables so the brake works. How or where is the adjustment on the cables? If it's like my 2003 the adjustment is inside the hub. There's an adjustment wheel just like the old fashion star adjustment on drum brakes. I don't know if they are the same though?
1st make sure that the service brakes are adjusted properlyAdjustment could be either at the junction of the three cables under vehicle or at the handle itself (may have to remove plastic trim for access)

This is dependent on how you drive and brake your vehicle. You should check them visually every 5000 miles.
