After jump starting a truck it stalls when gas pedal is let up. Is this the alternator?

probably not. The alternator generates DC voltage when the engine is turning at an rpm slightly above an idle. You might have a problem with fuel system, such as a clogged fuel filter, which will allow fuel to seep slowly through, but will not allow enough to pass to keep the engine running.
