I've had the same problem... try smacking the compressor with a metal rod while the engine is running to see if it will spin free. Either the compressor points or bearings are shot and beating it up will sometimes free up the motor to spin. If you can get it to start pumping it should run until your suspension is inflated again. After it pumps up your air springs IMMEDIATELY shut the system off to disable the auto adjust features (they will cause you to lose air rapidly if the compressor doesn't run reliably). The system ON/OFF switch is located on the passenger side under the dash (near where the firewall and sidepanel meet). There will still be some gradual loss in the system (none of the valves provide a perfect seal since it is a dynamically adjusted system) but it will buy you a couple months of driving to get your replacement parts. You'll have to replace your compressor (as I did). In Canada the only supplier of rebuilts is StrutMaster. In the States you have some options and can Google them. Hope this helps. If you're stuck riding on your axel at least there is no pressure in the system and you can easily replace the compressor yourself.
is it ok to turn the airbags switch off when the it air up on a 2006 navigator
No, but you can install a spring suspension.
Put airbags?Suspension airbag kits might be available, but since it is a strut suspension, they would have to be the hollow type, and would take some engineering. A generic kit isn't going to work.Crash airbags were never available on the Mark I rabbit/jetta.
They have airbags for the suspension air ride, they have air bags for the cab air ride. As far as collision air bags, some have them.

try arnot.com in fla
yes, the airbags coul have popped. did they turn the switch off for the airbags?
Yes, there isn't much you can't order there.
The force of the collision has to be great enough
I think it means your car is junk. Because without airbags its pretty dangerous, though I'm no engineer. Have it checked out at the car dealership.
no the towncars only have rear airbags all years
It comes on automatically for six seconds then should go off, if it don't you got a bad compressor or need to replace the airbags.
