South America

South America

That point is near the north coast of South America, in Suriname, about 59 miles

south-southeast of Paramaribo.

The point is on the shore of a large inland body of water into which the airplane may well have slid.

I can tell you that if I were there, I would definitely dip my toe into it, at least ceremonially, just

to say that I did. It turns out to be the Brokopondo Reservoir, officially named for the hydrologic

engineer who developed it . . .

The Sea of Professor Doctor Engineer Willem Johan van Blommestein

I love it!

That's somewhere in Brazil, so the continent is South America.Note: You can get this information quickly from Google Maps: go to the address maps.google.com, type (in this case) "-5, -55" in the search bar, then zoom out.
