Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna was the dictator of the Centralist Republic of Mexico. After his election in 1834 as a Federalist, he completely swapped sides, and changed Mexico from a Federalist Nation, into a Centralized Authoritarian one. After his election he disbanded congress and repealed the 1824 Federal Mexican Constitution and replaced it with the SIete Leyes, which gave him complete centralized control of the Mexican Government.
