Answer 1:

No. Palestine and Israel are two separate countries. The problem in naming comes from the fact that Palestine was also the name of the British Mandate in the territory that both of them wish to occupy and directly proceeded them. However, Israel is State with a Jewish Character and Palestine is a State with an Arab Moslem Character.

Answer 2:

No. Palestine is the name given to the Holy Land which is the birth place of both Judaism and Christianity. Israel is a country that is placed in the region known as Palestine, for the sole purpose of it being a place where religious practitioners (especially those of Jewish denomination) can flock to for peace.

Answer 3:

Yes, Palestine and Israel are the same place but Palestine was it's own country until Israel invaded it's land and territory.

Answer 4:

No. Israel has never been in or a part of Palestine.

Israel did not exist as a state or as a legal entity before May 14th 1948.

Israel was declared as an Independent Sovereign State May 14th 1948.

An Independent Sovereign State cannot be a part of any other entity.

The Israeli Government informed the International Community of its Declaration on May 15, 1948 Letter From the Agent of the Provisional Government of Israel to the President of the United States, "MY DEAR MR. PRESIDENT: I have the honor to notify you that the state of Israel has been proclaimed as an independent republic within frontiers approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations in its Resolution of November 29, 1947, and that a provisional government has been charged to assume the rights and duties of government for preserving Law and Order within the boundaries of Israel, for defending the state against external aggression, and for discharging the obligations of Israel to the other nations of the world in accordance with international law. The Act of Independence will become effective atone minute after six o'clock on the evening of 14 May 1948, Washington time."

The Israeli Government further clarified the extent of its sovereignty in statements to the UNSC on May 22nd 1948.

Israel has never legally annexed any territories to the extent of it's Declared Sovereignty. Currently, Israel illegally claims approximately 50% of the Palestinians' rightful territories.

To put it simply, if it isn't the "acknowledged" Sovereign Territory of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt or Israel, by default it's a territory of Palestine.

Commentary on Answer 4:

There is no international legal organization or any current government that claims that Israel should revert to the borders of the U.N. Resolution 181 Partition Plan. If Israel is recognized as a legal entity by any body, it includes all territory acquired as a result of the Armistices of 1949. By that definition, Israel occupies only 22% of Palestinian territories. (Of course, the other definition is that Israel does not merit existence and is therefore occupying 100% of Palestinian territory.)

Answer 5:

Yes, they refer to the same land, although its better to refer to it as Palestine because that's what it was called until the Jews occupied it and named it Israel.

Answer 6:

Yes and No. Palestine has two different definitions and Israel has two definitions.

Palestine 1: All of the lands of the former British Mandate of Palestine.

Palestine 2: All of the lands not under Israeli control in 1950 that serve as the basis for any current two-state proposal for the State of Palestine.

Israel 1: All of the lands under Israeli control in 1950.

Israel 2: All of the lands under Israeli control, both military and civil as of 2012.

Now for the spatial relationships.

Israel 1 is entirely within the borders of Palestine 1, but smaller (78%)

Israel 1 (78%) + Palestine 2 (22%) = Palestine 1

Israel 2 and Palestine 2 overlap in much of the West Bank Territories. Israel 2 and Israel 1 overlap in all of Israel 1's territories. Israel 2 does not control the Gaza Strip territories which are part of Palestine 1 and Palestine 2. Israel 2 also controls some Syrian territory not in either Palestine.
