It would be insulting to the Aborigines to suggest they are all the same, just as it would be insulting to make a similar suggestion about all the white Europeans in any given country.

There were an estimated 500 different Aboriginal tribal groups and languages on the Australian continent before European settlement. Hostility between the white and black races saw the elimination of some of the groups and, in particular, the differences in the cultures and identities.
