The traditionally will equate to a misdamenor charge in the civilian sector. However it is probable not to effect you in civilian employment, being some charges are not consistant with civilian law. Example in the military if you do not go to work on time you can receive a BCD (over a period of time and LOR's of corse) but in the civilian sector there is not a charge that would be ammicable in this case.

No, the answer is NO! There are a LOT of ppl on the intrnet who do not know what they are talking about. Most of the perpetraitors of this idea are/were desk pushing, non infantry POGUES who love to dance their Venteran status around and try to make people think "we owe" you for signing on the dotted line.

Further, a BCD does NOT go on your civilian record, it never has and it never will. I have been doing background checks on persons for 14 years in the Intelligence community and many admittied to BCD's. It doesn't matter, anyone who says it does is a big time hater and they want you to feel bad. BCD's have never come up and never show and never will because it has to do with a Military Service record. Not your personal life.

Example: Testing positive on a drug test is not a crime at Walmart or any other employer, it is simply "unacceptable", but not criminal. A BCD for something that like is not a crime. It simply is not.

Another one I love is that a BCD will ruin your life. This is far from the truth. If somone doesn't want to hire you because of a BCD or bad RE-Code that is their choice. But, it will not come up on a State or Federal background check. Further, you have to either tell them you have a BCD or give them your DD214. Otherwise it is between you and the wall.

I'm just waiting for some know it all idiot to comment somewhere on this thread with some "I know, this, that or the other thing" but you know what? Their post is not going to "magically" make your BCD a felony or any other crime. Period... and if they say otherwise, assume they are an idiot.

A lot of people will give you stories about Johnny and Suzie and their BCD sob story and how it ruined them. Pay no attention to it.

More people in this country have DUI's and cheat on their spouse than service people with bad discharges yet they point the finger every day. Those DUI's and cheaters are the true cancer of society, yet nobody attempts to make them feel miserable.
