It depends on the radio's manufacturer and model.
On Mazda units, 3 invalid tries to enter the code will lock the unit permanently and the "Err" message will blink on the display. There are key-combinations that can reset your unit - try finding them on the internet.
On Ford units, 3 invalid tries will change the display to "HOLD -30". You will have to leave the unit powered-on for 30 minutes. Then you can enter the code again. But be careful, 10 invalid tries will lock the unit permanently. Depending on the model, you can get up to 3 additional tries.
On Volvo units, 3 invalid tries will change the display to "OFF". You will have to leave the unit powered-on for 2-3 hours. I do not know is there any permanent-lock limit.
Radio codes are set at the factory and cannot be reset. If you lost the code go to your dealer and have them look it up.
You can get the radio codes online - but you have to pay for it. You will need the radio serial number - the instructions are on the site. I got mine from instant radio codes (google it) for £15 and it worked fine. Martin
If you lost or cant find or "they never gave it to me..." your radio codes then saddle up and head to your friendly BMW service department at your dealership. They are your only hope. All manufacturers are stingy with the codes for pretty obvious reasons.
It did not take three tries to kill Vasco Balboa. He was beheaded (got his head chopped off) for treason. He was put on trial for spying for a different country. He obviosly lost. There were just too many Brits. After three tries, the British took over. Each side lost almost half of their men.
codes to what?
just type in remote codes in key word
if you have a stock radio and all it displays is the word call it is a possibility you might have locked your radio out. If you recently replaced your battery or your radio somehow lost power this is possible. to retrieve the code you can check in your owners manual as some dealers put the radio codes in them. the best bet is to go to a ford dealership that has a service department and they can look it up for you and tell you how to input the code tounlock your radio.
