Answer 1

it depends on how you look at it.. because the citizens of Afghanistan were becoming like the people of the west. the taliban stepped in to bring back Islam to the country.

Answer 2

There is no way the Taliban can be considered "good". They were women haters. Girls were not allows to go to school. /women had to covered in black from head to toe, including covering their faces. Women could not leave the house without a male relative. Women could not work, even if there was no male member of the household to provide for them. Men had to wear their hair and beard to precise orders. Music and dancing was not allowed. No opposition was allowed. No freedom of speec,h press, assembly, etc. The Taliban were ruthless. Public hangings and stonings were common.

Men who join the Taliban are the worst of sadistic psychopaths. They enjoy violence, murder, and keep the population terrified. There is no Muslim country that wants the return of the Taliban.

To form a view on this you need to look at what the Taliban stand for and their record of activity (what they did) while in power.

While in power they:-

  • Destroyed some very ancient Buddhist cliff statues that were of world historical significance. (Islam teaches tolerance of other faiths)
  • Prevented Afghani woman form receiving education (Islam does not prevent women from being educated or taking a role in society)
  • Nurtured and gave succour to Al-Qaeda and gave a base to Al-Qaeda while they declared war on America and murdered people in other countries.
  • Encouraged the Opium trade (Drugs are against Islamic law)
  • Suppressed the freedoms and human rights of the majority of Afghani people

I would argue that these actions are not those of a benign or beneficial organization and that therefore no matter what they purportedly stand for the people comprising the Taliban are bad people.

Answer-2

Actually, the word 'Talib' means a person seeking knowledge, the student. Taliban is the plural form of Talib, the knowledge seeker. These are the so-called warriors or Mujahidin who once used to study Islam at Akora Khattak or other religious Madrassas situated in Pakistan. They are ever at war with other Muslim groups and even Pakistan where they once took refuge. They try to impose an Islam of their own wish. They are misled people.

Who are the taliban people from Pakistan?

The Taliban are not a 'people' in the meaning of ethnic group like e.g. the Pashtun. "Taliban" means "students" (of the Quran) and is the plural of the word 'talib', student. Taliban are fundamentalist Muslims who may come from any ethnic group in Pakistan and Afghanistan - or even from outside that area - and who decide to join that organization and pledge allegiance to its leaders.

Why can't a soldier in Afghanistan kill the taliban?

Because the Taliban are funded by the US and British. All the Taliban in Afghanistan are pakistanies. They are there to destroy Afghanistan not to bring peace. Everything that you see on tv about the Taliban are fake. There is no such thing as the Taliban, they are all pakistanies killing innocent Pashtun people. I am not even an afghan but I know what the truth is regarding Afghanistan.

What group gained control of most of Afghanistan by 1996?
