Texas Tech has a really great and respectable technical writing PhD program. * This program is available onsite or online. * Program homepage: http://www.english.ttu.edu/tcr/

WRD/English Departments

Another option would be to research Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse (WRD) Departments within major universities.

* These departments usually include a Technical Writing or Technical Communications track for graduate students.

* DePaul University has a great WRD Department with coursework focusing on technical writing. Certification programs

Another solution is a certification program within a reputable university and/or training center.

* University of California Riverside: http://www.extension.ucr.edu/certificates/technical/ * Tech-writer Certification: http://www.techwriter-certification.com/ * Google "technical writer certification" for a list of great resources and

* Society for Technical Communciation (STC) has a list of online certification courses: http://stc.org/edu/online-certificate-courses.asp Hope this helps...
