All new Beetles are much the same. they have lots of problems. I am currently selling my 99 Beetle, which was wrought with issues. the headlights and taillights are constant annoyances. the brake light switch was recalled on most beetles, so you might have to get that changed, but you will most likely still have problems with it. I've been having problems with my radiator and oil cooler (just spent 1500 dollars and don't even know if it's fixed!). Not to mention the inside of the car seems to be assembled with super glue. the seat levers continuously fall off, the side mirror lever keeps breaking and needs to be replaced, the side windows break, the list goes on and on. a word of advice, do some more research for yourself. Google new beetles and look at many of the sites with reviews. there are twice as many bad as good. also, if you do end up getting one, if something breaks, research as to whether you can fix it yourself to save yourself costly repairs. after spending lots of money at my mechanics for repairs, my boyfriend and i googled how to fix many things ourselves, such as replacing the front headlights and taillights, ordering and replacing the side mirror switch, and pretty much everything else that breaks that is non-mechanical. it's easy to find instructions for these projects all over the internet.

I thought I would love my beetle, my mom was the original owner and took great care of it, as did i, but no matter how much care i put into the car, it keeps breaking down or just breaking. every mechanic or tow truck driver i have come into contact with tells me that it is not a good time for German cars. my employer has a new BMW and is having similar problems. I hope this helped. just do some more research about they specific year of the vw and choose wisely.

Good Luck!!
