Backup lights and turn signals not working on 1991 Volvo 240 wagon manual. Broken black and blue wires found under gearstick dust cover. Where would one look for broken wires or parts coming from rear?

Mine are working just fine, thanks! I assume yours are not working - try the flasher in the fuse box under the hood, or the fuse for the turn signals on the right side of the dash. Could be the switch has broken in the column (much bigger repair bill), but not likely if the switch seems to click into place in both directions. Another weird thing - if you have two bulbs burned out, the flasher usually quits working. If one bulb is out, it may flash very quickly. Therefore, check the bulbs to make sure they aren't the culprit.
