If you mean as in a Frontier, they just don't get good gas mileage. They should. it's a light truck, with not many ponies to hot rod for sure. It could be in the final drive rear end ratio's. The engine is a sound power plant, and the same block can be a monster when the right mechanics and the right pieces are added. I don't get it, they are like driving the old Lincoln town cars as far as fuel economy. They have a computer, fuel injection, solid state electronics and get terrible gas mileage. On the road best I ever got was almost 19 mpg. Once you reach speeds above 55, it doesn't matter how fast you drive. I think it would do better if it had a Z car motor in it. I love the body style, but wished it had about 300 ponies and more torque. Torque is the thrill, the ehck with going 200 mph, I want it out of the hole.
Maybe one day I will see where someone put Z motor in a Frontier. I asked a mechanic once but he said why, just buy a Z. I would love to have a sleeper Frontier that would light up the Fords and Chevy's, and Dodges.
Good Luck,
The Big Kahuna, in Texas oh Texas on the Golden Gulf Coast
