The Hindus and Cows Hindus do not eat beef; it is against their religion. They regard cows as holy. So, obviously, they would not eat beef.

But some Hindus now a days eat it.

End note: As cow is sacred so Hindus should also stop eating dairy products like milk etc.. because in the dairy farm Cows get extremely tortured ! So just not eating beef doesn't help the holy mother. Hindus, please stop consuming milk products too and end the hypocrisy !

Our holy book says that we should only eat meat which has been killed with one quick blow, as we do not believe in making the animal suffer. However in the past when we lived among Muslims, the only available meat was Halal, which involves cutting a vein and letting the animal bleed to death.

Our holy book also says to do whatever your company does, whether they are Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Christian. So in the very beginnings of Sikhism, we lived among many Hindus, and some Hindus converted to Sikhism. So because Hindus do not eat beef, we didn't either.

My family doesn't eat beef, and many of our Sikh friends do not either. It is not forced on us, we choose whether or not we eat it. Many Sikhs are vegetarians, to follow 'no animal should be harmed'.

I hope this helped!

No, Eating beef is strictly banned in Hinduism. Killing the cow is a sin which you can never get rid of no matter what you do. No god can help you. In vedic period Hindu laws were even stricter. Usually a person who ate beef was outcasted & exiled.

In Hindu scripture, it states that the cow is Krishna's favorite animal. Lord Krishna, one of the most beloved deities in Hinduism, is believed to have taken a human body and he lived with a pious couple named Mother Yasoda and Nanda Maharaj; they had dairy cows, and every day, Krishna would go out with his friends and take the cows to graze. Since these activities are mentioned in Scripture, it is believed that to kill a cow would be insulting to Krishna. However, it should be noted that it is a myth that cows are worshiped-- they are simply respected as holy, and protected because Lord Krishna wanted it that way.

Beating a cow is a great sin as per the Bhagavad Gita. So just imagine how sinful killing a cow; a true Hindu must avoid beef and its products.
