Concerta is a medication that can cause "dependence" and therefore should never be started or stopped unless under the guidance of a medical professional. For this reason, it is a "controlled substance". A substance being "addicting" implies that an addict is using it. Being dependent on a drug because you've been taking it legally for some time is very different from being "addicted" to it. Addiction is a brain disorder that causes a person to use a drug despite the negative effects of it, and the negative consequences that come from using and abusing it.

Anyone whom IS a drug addict should be VERY careful about starting or stopping a medication , especially a medication that can produce drug withdrawal. Concerta is one of those drugs. It is a stimulant, extended release Ritalin- and therefore if an addict is prescribed this drug, any dosage could cause them to be addicted to it.

Whether someone becomes addicted to a substance has nothing to do with the dosage. Some people could be "addicted" to one tablet of Vicodin (hydrocodone) per day, and others could be addicted to ten tablets. The more one uses and abuses a substance, for the most part, the more they will need to keep their addiction going.
