The Sidekick 1.6 Liter 16 Valve conversion is by far the most popular. The 1.8 conversion could be done but they only used that engine for a couple of years. It is not a popular engine. I have the 1.6 conversion is a 1986 Suzuki Samurai. The major components are: Transmission adapter to connect to the Samurai transmission. Engine mounts from Sidekick Oil Pan and Oil Pick-up needs to be cut down unless the Samurai is raised to allow room for front axle. Computer and wiring from Sidekick must be installed into the Samurai. All of the engine controls, air filter, MAF, high pressure fuel pump. There is a speedometer conversion as well. It adds a magnetic (reed) relay to the speedometer and lets the computer know when the car is moving. -EVERYTHING- moves over from the donor vehicle including (most times) the third member gears because they are lower than a Samurai. Samurai=3.73 Sidekick (auto)=4.62 Sidekick (Man)= 5.12 All of these items can be purchased separately from several Suzuki aftermarket suppliers on the web.
Yes
the neutral safety switch located on the rightside of the automatic gearbox.
diff. answer for 3sp, 4sp and 5sp. but 4000 to 4500 is common. if in top gear. if auto in overdrive.
The transmission is completely different in these two. The Sidekick has an integral transfer case, the Samurai is divorced (separate) transfer case. Although anything may be possible I have never seen this conversion and it will not 'Bolt' on.
sure, but the autos are pain , most mess up, all the time.
Sidekick black and white was the first. It was followed by sidekick color, sidekick 2, sidekick 3, sidekick ID, sidekick lx, sidekick slide, and finally sidekick 2008, and the new sidekick lx 2009 is coming out very soon
The R&P Ratio on a '92 Suzuki Sidekick 1.6L depends on the transmission type: Automatic= 4.62 Manual=5.12 **See Related Links for Suzuki Manuals on Google Docs
Hey dude, you did not specify if it is automatic or standard transmission. If it is Manual Transmission, it is located on top of the transmission.
probaly a pin head hole in one of your wires check it in the dark and look for a arc
The sidekick 2 is way older than sidekick 2008!! If the sidekick 3 has way more features than sidekick 2 and sidekick 3 is way older than sidekick 2008, so imagine how much better sidekick 2008 is!! Sidekick 2008 has a better camera, faster web browsing, it has way more features. so what am trying to say is that sidekick 2 is not the same as sidekick 2008! hope i helped
