Should be able to if you have a good credit report as you are an adult. However, if you do not have or have not ever had credit, then you well may need a co-signer. I would talk to your bank about obtaining a very low, modest sum of money as a loan just to establish a credit history. Pay it back as quickly as you can and then try for a loan without co-signing.

How can a 17-year-old get an auto loan?

Wait until your next birthday. A minor can not enter in to a legal contract, so no lender will give you a loan until you are at least 18. Even then, without a co-signer, it will be very difficult to secure a loan. The best thing to do is to wait until you are 18 and then go in with a co-signer with good credit. Even an 18 year old doesnt need an auto loan. Just save $2k and buy a hooptie. You'll have learnd to take care of your car when you do decide to buy a new one.

What does an 18 yr old need to take out a loan?

Either: 1) A co-signer with excellent credit and the capacity to repay the loan should the 18 year old fail to do so -OR- 2) Cash collateral (someone who will pledge a CD in the amount of the requested loan as collateral)

Can a 17-year-old making 4000 a month get a car loan?

Whether or not someone can get a loan for a car or house or anything else largely depends on their credit history. It is also the discretion of the bank whether or not you get approved. With your income though, i would see no reason why you couldn't get an auto loan. I am not sure what the minimum age is for that but if nothing else you could always get a co-signer. Sorry if this doesn't help!

Can a 17 year old get a car loan for 5000 dollars with out a co-signer?

A 17 year old will not be able to get a car loan for $5,000 dollars without a co-signer. Most banks will not give a 17 year old a loan even with a co-signer.

Can someone that has a co-signer co-sign on a loan?

You have a co-signer and you want to co-sign someone Else's loan. Horrible idea. Co-signing a loan is a good way to pay for a loan that you will get no benefit out of. Do not co-sign any loan. A person that needs a co-signer is a bad credit risk, that is why the lender requires a co-signer. So why would you want to get involved with this. Remember the old saying which is still very true. Never, ever, do business with family or friends. That is a good way to cause family strife and loose a friend.Another PerspectiveIf you needed a co-signer for your own loan then chances are your credit isn't good enough for another lender to accept you as a co-signer on another borrower's loan. After all, the bank's purpose for requiring a co-signer is to make certain the loan will be paid. They will go after the co-sogner if the primary borrower defaults on the loan.

Is a person who is 65-years-old and retired responsible for paying a loan they co-signed for if the owner defaults?

Yes - unfortunately when you cosign a loan - you cosigned a loan and if the owner defaults you are still responsible no matter how old you are. You could check with the lenders but wait until they contact you.

Can a 16-year-old making 4000 dollars a month get a car loan?

A car loan is a contract between the buyer and the lending institution. In order to sign a contract and make it binding on both parties, the buyer needs to be 18 years old. The way around this is to use a co-signer, who must be 18 years old. However, if a co-signer is used and the 16 year old stops paying, the co-signer is responsible for the entire debt.

Can a 19 yr old buy a used car without a co-signer or credit?

Without any credit? Probably not at a reputable dealership without a co-signer. Probably yes at a shady used-car lot, but they will charge you outrageous interest and will vastly overprice the car you are buying and underprice your trade-in. If you are buying your used car with cash, yes. If you're going to need an auto-loan it will be very difficult or impossible with no credit. You can certainly sign up for a credit card with no credit and use it to build your credit. That process may take some time. If a co-signer is available for you to use you'll have a better chance than with no credit. Without either it will be nearly impossible.
