You are asking the wrong question- can it be- YES! -Should it be? is the correct question. How much conversion do you want to do? There are many differences between the man vs auto. Yes it can be done, but it is a lot of work. The differences are the mounts, how it attaches, & the computer, & some other elctrical things as well as the linkages. I think if I had the choice, I would sell the one with the manual & buy a different Jeep with an auto already in it. I prefer manuals myself but the thot of coverting an auto to a manual it LOTS of work. I am just starting a frame off restore to my 91 so will find out in more detail how much work.
