If the tail has curled feathers, they are both male. As long as they aren't fighting, they can live together with no problem. It is rare for them to fight over anything. I have kept several males together with no problems at all.
pekins
Yes, they can be bred together, but obviously, some traits from each breed would come out in the eggs (or the ducklings). This would create a crossbreed between the Pekin and the Cayuga, the same goes for any other two breeds of ducks bred together, e.g. Mallards and Muscovies, or Pekins and Muscovies. The Cayuga itself I believe is a crossbreed.
Yes. There are also different weight classes. Pekins are heavey ducks and calls are small ducks and cayugas are medium ducks.
You can eat just about any but Pekins and mallards majorly
I guess if they want to, I do not see why not. Most likely your white ducks are Pekins. They will not usually breed and have viable offspring if you try to mate with a madrin. Mandrins are more closely related to wood ducks.
It depends on the breed. The commercials are not known for wanting to go "clucky" although breeds of bantams, pekins and rohde island reds, are known for gowing "clucky" at least once a year, usually around spring. It can also depend on the chicken. Like humans they can be unique.
I have pekins and they are on day 27- nointernal pip yet. Have yours pipped? Anyways, I woul hang on to them for awhile, that's what I am doing. If you get any goodf answers, perhaps you could post a few on my Q. Good luck!
The mallard ducklings are probably not pure mallard ducklings. The female mallard probably mated with a pekin duck, which are the big white ducks, Pekins are yellow as ducklings.
I've had up to eight Rouens and Pekins at one time but now (because of predators) have only two. I raised these from chicks/ducklings. My experience is that they actually LIKE the rain. I do provide "duckhouse" shelter for them however. We live in Florida, so rain is frequent half the year, and the climate is warm.
A call duck is a small breed of duck. They look exactly like bigger breeds of duck exept they are smaller. For examole, some look like little mallards, pekins, rouens, etc. But I don't think they have a miniature muscovy or runner duck yet.
According to SOWPODS (the combination of Scrabble dictionaries used around the world) there are 15 words with the pattern --KI-S. That is, six letter words with 3rd letter K and 4th letter I and 6th letter S. In alphabetical order, they are: alkies bekiss bikies eskies fakirs hakims lakins likins oakies pekins pokies sakias takins unkiss vakils
I don't think I have ever had that problem but it sounds like the mother is trying to kill the chicks! If so, there must be a reason. Mothers purposely kill chicks if there is a problem, (ie, the chicks are not hers, the chick is unhealthy/ill/dying/in pain). If she is just pecking she might be telling them off or telling them who's boss. But I'm no chicken expert breeder so I wouldn't know.
