It depends on the freeze damage, if you have a couple of small coil ruptures and your heater is relatively new then I suggest bringing it to a local radiator repair shop. They can test it to see if its worth fixing.

If the heater is has a multitude of ruptures in the coils and/or its over 5 years old I suggest replacing it.

Regarding water flow-should pool water go through the filter before it goes to the heat exchanger or should pool water go to the heat exchanger then through the filter before going back into the pool?

it goes ....pump, filter, heater, auto feeder, back to pool...this way the super chlorated water doesn't hurt the heat exchanger...

Can you recommend a heat exchanger connected to the home heating system to heat an inground pool?

This heat exchanger works wonders (with a sufficiently sized boiler). http://triangletube.com/HeatExchangers/MaxiFlo/HEMaxiFloOverview.htm

Is it possible to use a heat exchanger to cool your house while heating the water in your pool?

no

Name the types of heat exchangers used as super-heaters?

Water tube heat exchanger swimming pool, Coaxial heat exchanger for laser and stainless steel exchangers are some of the heat exchangers used as super-heaters.

What causes knocking sound from heat exchanger when a teledyne laars heater is heating?

The noise is coming from the heat exchanger located just above the burner tray. One or more of the heat exchanger tubes has become blocked or reduced in size from calcium buildup - - - improper adjustment of your pool's pH which can happen is a short period of time. The knocking is caused by steam or the lack of proper water flow through the exchanger tubes. Someone, and I am not mentioning names has not done their job of maintaining the pool properly. If left alone the exchanger will fail and you will have a great expense of replacing the heater. Another possibility is that the heater by-pass valve is failing. You need a qualified pool tech to advise. He can only assess the problem through a heater visual inspection --- that means disassembling the heater to look at the exchanger tubes. Sorry for your misfortune. k

Peace Of Mind When Owning A Pool ?

Owning a pool can be a great or terrible experience. It all depends on you, the consumer. If you go with an aboveground pool, you might have a few headaches, but they're usually easy to deal with. On the other hand, they're not nearly as much fun because you don't have as much room to swim. An in-ground pool comes with a lot more responsibility, but as is the case with most things in life, the more work you put into it, the more fun you can have. Cleaning an in-ground pool is the number one priority. A close second is keeping your pool at the right temperature. After all, what's the point of owning a pool if you can't enjoy it? In order to fully enjoy your pool, you need a pool heat exchanger. Most people are clueless when it comes to a pool heat exchanger. It basically means a heater. These pool heat exchangers, or heaters, come in many different shapes and sizes. Their prices also have quite a range. As far as shapes and sizes go, you can find a triangular tube heat exchanger, a 210k Btu pool heat exchanger, a high fluid velocity heat exchanger, and much more. When it comes to prices, you can spend as little as a few hundred dollars and as much as several thousand dollars. Of course, it's wise to look at the cheaper options first. As long as you can get the quality, go for it, but be careful. It's often the case that pool heat exchangers that cost the least also lead to the most problems. When you buy a high quality pool heat exchanger, you might be spending a lot of money upfront, but you most likely won't have to worry about anything for over a decade. If you have kids who plan on swimming in your pool then peace of mind is more important than anything else. Temperature might not seem like it's a big factor as far as swim safety is concerned, but it has happened before where a kid will jump in a freezing pool at the wrong time of year and the consequences can be severe. It's recommended that you buy a high efficiency pool heat exchanger to avoid this potential scenario.

What is the best brand of heat pumps?

Aquacal and Rheem make good pool heat pumps and have better warranties. The Aquacal SS175 has a 7 year parts, 2 year labor, 7 year compressor and lifetime heat exchanger warranty. The Rheem M8350ti has a similar warranty but only has a 10 year warranty on the heat exchanger.

How do you repair a Teledyne Laars epc 400 pool heater leak?

Application of plate heat exchanger?

The plate heat exchanger is used in multiple systems in the field of HVAC, including geothermal water heating systems, instantaneous domestic hot water systems, semi-instantaneous domestic hot water systems, swimming pool constant temperature maintenance systems, solar hot water systems, etc.Plate heat exchanger systems provide plate heat exchanger designs for each application:1. Geothermal water heating system: The heat exchanger acts as a separate device for the host of the heat pump and the open cold and heat source, which overcomes the corrosion of sensitive equipment such as the host by water quality.2. Domestic hot water system: The good heat transfer performance makes the plate heat exchanger gradually replace the traditional container heating system, with a smaller area and more economical investment.Instantaneous domestic hot water system-to ensure that users have hot water supply anytime, anywhere, compact system, no storage tank required, large boiler capacity required, large heat exchanger Semi-instantaneous domestic hot water system—requires smaller boiler capacity, smaller heat exchanger, easy to grow bacteria in the storage tank, and requires additional places for the storage tank.3. Swimming pool constant temperature maintenance system: Install a heat exchanger to make the pool water circulate independently. In order to avoid the corrosion of the plate by the chloride ion in the pool water, please choose the plate material carefully.4. Solar hot water system: As one of the clean energy sources, solar energy has attracted more and more attention. By using a heat exchanger, the loop for collecting solar energy and the loop for domestic hot water can be separated, thereby effectively protecting it. Why would the swimming pool heater get hot but not warm the pool water?

Some pool heaters have an internal bypass valve that improves efficiency by limiting the amount of water flowing through the heat exchanger. These can stick so that water flow mostly bypasses the heat exchanger...the heater gets hot but very little heat is transferred to the pool.Other answerers have suggested the following:Your airflow over the pool is cooling the water even as it is being heatedYou may not be running the pool pump long enough. Is the heater not maintaining temp? Is the thermostat turned up? Is the filter clean? When was the last time it was back washed or cleaned? You may be using the wrong size heater for your pool and the water to heat ratio that your heater is made to work with may be out.

What causes oil to mix with the water in an inground heated swimming pool?

Do you have a pool heater? The oil could be "white oil," a refined mineral oil. Indicates a problem with the heat exchanger. Your heater doesn't need to be running for this problem to occur.

Is there a pool heater that is recommended if you have a salt water pool and are concerned about rust deposits?

Almost all pool heaters use a copper heat exchanger (looks like a radiator; water flows through it; fire heats the outside = hot water). Salt water or fresh water, all pools have chlorine. Over time, chlorine corrodes copper. (As a pool service provider, I have never seen rust stains caused by a copper heat exchanger: the most common causes of rust stains are iron based lawn fertilizer in the pool and metallic objects resting on the bottom too long) Copper will, however, eventually leave blue-green deposits on the plaster surfaces. While I haven't yet seen one, it is my understanding that one or more of the larger pool equipment mfrs. makes a heater with a titanium heat exchanger which does not corrode. Check with Hayward, Pentair, Jandy, etc., but expect to pay big bucks.
