It is possible, and in the history of silenced weapons it may have been done for some special purpose such as assassination, but the rifle will still make an audible sound. With any rifle, the bullet will hit the target before the sound reaches it anyway, and that time is increased by the extra range of a sniper's rifle, so there is little point in silencing them for most wartime applications.
The sound emitted can be reduced further still by using subsonic ammunition, but this is less effective, and also can reduce the effective range.
His Sniper Rifle.
1800 meters is 5905 feet, which makes it something over a mile (5280 feet in a mile). Pretty good for a sniper rifle.
L115A3, otherwise known as the Accuracy International Arctic Warfare. It fires the 8.58x70 cartridge (also known as .338 Lapua Magnum), and the shots made actually exceeded the projected range of the rifle.
Assuming you mean which sniper rifle (as it is quite obvious from the plot who the actual sniper was), the weapons used over the series include: * M40 (customised Remington 700); * H&K SR9T (a target-shooting variant); * SVD (Dragunov sniper rifle); * Mosin Nagant M91/30 (mislabelled as a Mauser in the film). Other weapons are used in the third film, but no record of their make could be found.

It is believed that sniper rifles were invented around 1857 with the advent of the Enfield rifle. This rifle was then surpassed by the Whitworth rifle which became the first long range sniper rifle.
A sniper cannot function without a rifle with which to snipe, nor can a rifle function without someone to fire it. The question is a bit redundant.
The Enfield SA-80 is a assault rifle carbine from Great Britain. It is not a sniper rifle.
A "sniper rifle" is simply a rifle employed for that purpose. So long as the "sniper rifle" meets the criteria and restrictions for hunting firearms in the state you're hunting in, you can use it.
A sniper rifle is a precision rifle that has a telescopic sight which allows operators to target an object that is far in the distance. Sniper rifles are used in military combat.
