What is transfer trip protection scheme?

A scheme where a signal is sent to to a remote location to cause a trip. An example could be a breaker failure scheme. When the breaker is told to trip, and fails to do so, fiber communications could be used to transmit a trip signal from the local substation to the substation the next bus out to cause that breaker to trip.

What can a loosely connected electrical wire in a breaker panel cause?

Will cobwebs trip a breaker?

No, cobwebs alone will not trip a breaker. Breakers are designed to protect against overloading and short circuits, not cobwebs. However, if the cobwebs accumulate and cause insulation damage, it could potentially cause an electrical issue that may trip the breaker. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help prevent this.

What would cause a circuit breaker heating element to trip off?

What happens when a 20amp device connects to a 30amp receptacle and the power supply fails - will it trip the breaker?

Assuming you are referring to the power supply failing in your 20A device, it could cause the 30A breaker protecting the receptacle to trip. It depends on the mode of failure. It is easy to imagine a condition where a short in the power supply could cause a current in excess of 30A to flow to the device and trip the breaker.

What procedure should be followed when a circuit breaker trips?

Look for the cause of the trip and correct. Reset the circuit breaker. If it continues to trip it might be an overloaded circuit, loose connections in the circuit, or a short in the wiring somewhere.

If live is kept open could it trip circuit breaker by connecting neutral to ground?

I would think not. However, if live were to come into contact with either the ground, or the neutral or both, this would cause a breaker to trip.

Can you put a 20amp water pump and a 30 amp water heater on a 50amp breaker?

No, they each need their own breaker of the right amp. Neither of them would cause the breaker to trip if there was a problem.

Would a slight rise in the kva cause a 2000 amp gfci breaker to trip?

A circuit breaker trips when the current exceeds the rated trip current. Usually the trip current should be at least 25% more than the maximum expected load current.
