No they won't, or it is VERY unlikely. It would take a really deep layer of chips for them to suffocate since they are getting air through the gaps between the chips. Their instinct is to burrow, whether in the wild or in a cage. They also don't burrow down very deep, just enough to be comfortable. Its like a blanket for them.
Hamsters sleep in burrows in the bedding that they have in their cage. They make these burrows themselves. Burrowing up makes them feel more secure and comfortable with their surroundings.

Hamsters sleep in the daytime, which means they come out to play at night. They like to sleep in a closed area, possibly a little house or mini cave. Hope this helps! :)
I have had no problems with playing music when my hamsters sleep, as long as it is quiet. If you notice that they are having disturbed sleep, particularly when you are playing music, maybe stop :)

Yes. Not only can dwarf hamsters sleep in your hands, other hamsters can, too. I have had a hamster, Butterscotch, and she slept in my hands, If you are very calm and quiet, sure! They'll sleep in your hands. Unless they aren't sleepy of course:)
They do sleep on their sides because if they slept face down or face up they would suffocate
