yes they can
My 7 year old daughter woke up up as I was taking a well needed nap on the couch today and said there are white things comming out of scoobie (our cat) bottom. So initially I freaked out and went to look and she was right, so we ran upto pet smart to ask some questions and they recommended seeing a vet because the treatments "sometimes" work and you have to know what kind or worms they have. So I ran up to the vet and they got us right in. Only to discover he had tape worms. I asked the same question you did today, can we get them and honestly made me want to itch my bottom...lol Anyway the vet told me the only way you can get them is if you EAT one and there is no other way. They meaning the animal get them from fleas. They eat a flea who is carying the parasite and then they digest the flea and inturn give themselves the parasite. It wasnt to costly....took him to a good vet for 38.00 and the shot cost me 22.00 and that was because my cat was so fat and its based on their weight! Hope I helped and good luck:)
YES. Ring worms, hook worms and tape worms to name a few. One of these can cause blindness and other really bad stuff if left untreated.
yes. for example Wucheraria bancrofti
Well...
The worms have to come from somewhere, it's not like the dog makes them. So, if a dog eats food that's infested, then it can get worms.
Doesn't matter if it's infested "human" food or infested dog food.
A human, eating the same food would have run pretty much the same risk of getting worms as the dog.
Yes, roundworms from dogs (and cats) can be contracted by humans. This occurs from coming into contact with fecal material, dirt or even in-animate objects that have been in contact with dirt or fecal material that is contaminated and then putting your hands to your mouth. The eggs from roundworms can remain viable in the environment for up to 10 years after being shed in feces and puppies and kittens are commonly infected. This is why it is important to be sure that everyone washes their hands after playing out in a yard and to have puppies (and kittens) dewormed regularly when they are young.
yes, but only if you digest the worm (if it was excreted from the animal)
Yes. Actually, all mammals are born with worms. Worm medicine is available at the drugstore.

No, because ringworm is a fungal disease of the skin. Other intestinal parasites, such as roundworm can make a dog vomit.
Through contact with raccoon feces or items and ground that have been contaminated with roundworm feces. Roundworm eggs are extremely sticky and will adhere to skin or items and can be accidentally ingested.
Roundworm If it is your dog you need to treat it for worms.
Brugia malayi is a roundworm nematode found in Southeast Asia. It causes lymphatic filariasis (elephantiasis) in humans and is transmitted by mosquitoes.
Tapeworm.. I think. To the person who answered tapeworm, it is definitely not the tapeworm, as the former is a flatworm and not a roundworm. The most common roundworm that infects humans is Ascaris lumbricoides. Other roundworms that are also highly distributed include Trichuris trichiura, and the hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale, and Necator Americanus).
Yes, you can contract an infection with Toxocara from dog feces. Toxocara is a species of roundworm and it causes serious health issues in humans each year. As the parasite migrates through the body of the aberrant host (humans) it damages the organs that is passes through--liver, eye and brain are typical sites for damage. This parasite's eggs can remain viable in the environment for 10 years or longer, so it is very important that dog feces (and cat feces) be cleaned up immediately to help prevent environmental contamination with the eggs of this roundworm. This is an extremely common parasite in puppies and is dangerous to the pup as well as to humans, thus the recommendations for frequent deworming starting as early as 2 weeks of age for puppies.
The larvae of the Baylisascaris procyonis roundworm, which can be contained in the feces of raccoons, can be transmitted to humans and pets and can be dangerous.
