A lot depends on the country you are travelling to. Australia is just one country that is very strict on animal and plant imported through customs. Check with the airline - though I would not attempt it. The nuts may be confiscated and you could suffer a fine, not to mention a very long delay before you can get through customs.

For a while, some airlines designated some flights as nut-free due to customer Allergies. I do not know if they still do that, but checking with the airline is always a good idea.
