A vehicle with a failed fuel pump will not start. But fuel pumps can have intermediate degrees of failure which can result in intermittent failure or low fuel pressure.
Let the fuel pump run for a minute or two. The car should start when the fuel system re-fills with fuel.
check fuel pump
a 1990 corvette that wont start. I have replaced the fuel pump, map sensor, ecm , checked for spark and fuel to the fuel rail The Oil pressure switch can go bad and will not let the car start at all because the ECM has to see at least 3 psi while cranking or running to let car run. Next to distributor.
If it stalls, could be your fuel pump going out, and when you let it sit for a day the gas evaporates from the chamber (because it was probably flooded) and then once evaporated makes it possible to start the car much easier in the morning. Have the same problem with fuel pump but my car doesn't stall, just has a rough start. (Btw my car is a 1993 z34).
if the car is completely out of gas then it take a little while for the fuel pump to get the fuel to the engine, but i got an alternative, when you turn the key on just let it sit for a second and don't press the gas pedal or try to start it, it should let the gas get to the engine.
rough start also in some cars the fuel sensor is inside and the care wont let u know how much gas is really in the car fuel gauge will not work or be accurate
I suspect fuel delivery problems. Do a fuel flow and pressure test, it could be fuel pump failure.
this question makes no sense ? i assume you mean prevent the car from cranking??? if so then no. a bad fuel pump may stop the car from running or starting but it should not stop it from cranking. a bad fuel pump relay could stop the car from cranking but that would depend on the year make and model of your car.
take fuel filter out turn key and let pump pump it out
Not sure what you need it cut off for, when I'm changing my fuel filter, i disconnect my fuel pump relay. its on the driver's side of the fire wall. Mine has a green harness on it ('94 jimmy)(you'll know it is the right one when you disconnect and turn the car to ignition, you won't hear the fuel pump start). Start it, let it use the gas it has till it dies- then the fuel's cut off. .
you do not have to prime them just turn the key on for few secounds without starting the car and let the fuel pump run for a few mins then do it again then start the car you should not have to bleed them as i did not on my car when i took everything off to do a head gasket and im a ase certified technician
sometimes the fuel needs to get there...turn the ignition on and off 3 times, but do not start the car, listen all 3 times for the fuel pump to turn on,if its not turning on check the wiring...also sometimes there may be air in the fuel lines,in this case relieve the fuel pressure on the fuel rail(for example fords have a schrader valve located on the passenger side fuel rail,i work on mustangs more than anything lol)if you have a pressure relief, push it lightly with a towel on it or covering it or you get sprayed in the face ;( let all of the pressure out till you hear nothing....try again if the cars fuel pump is turning ON when you turn the ignition...
