You can use either flex plate you prefer on most Chevy's, the only diff with the larger one (168) is you will have to use a different starter. I think most all blocks are drilled for the small, some both, but very few (400's for example) large only. (rear 2 bolt holes diff locations) You should get a dual pattern plate though (6 holes) regardless of size so you can mate with any Chevy trans.
the biggest crate motor GM chevy makes is a 572 not a 502
The Chevy Crate engine is an engine that is custom built. They usually have more power and are made from the original motor but bored out and modified.
Doesnt matter, the flexplate can be installed either way..
No, there is a starter solenoid located on the starter motor.
Take out the motor, put a new one on, reinstall motor. Look at haynes for details. Flexplate connects the motor and tranny.
It just bolts to the block by the flywheel/flexplate. Just remove it and replace, re-attach wires.
Chevy Crate motors are anywhere from $15,000 for a Mopar Super Commando to around $5,000 for a Fast Burn engine. The price of these motors depends on the type of motor you are looking for.
What year, what motor?? it is a 2002 Chevy avalanche 1500
The bellhousing, the starter, the exhaust manifords, maybe the flexplate (flywheel) and the computer, and probably the motor mounts. I'm not sure if the V6 crossmember that the motor mounts bolt to will have to be changed or not. I guess it might.
A 1981 Chevy starter will cost approximately $125. The starter can be found at discount auto-parts stores for as little as $80.
what oil filter will fit my 2012 502 chevy engine
