remove the two upper mounting bolts inside the trunk, then remove the one on the axl, replace bolts when you replace the shock...
There are two bolts that hold the shock in.One at the top and one at the bottom.Once those are removed you can replace the old shock with a new one.
First jack the rear of the truck up. Relieving the shock of any pressure will allow the bolt of slide off easier. Remove the broken bolt and replace it with a new one.
to replace the shocks in a nut shell, take off the rear tire, buy a spring compresser and compress the springs, there is bolts that hold the shock in, take those out, one at the top and one at the bottom, after that pull the shock out with the spring, and put it back together just how you took it out.
One will find the answers to this question at NissanPartsZone. There are also tutorials on YouTube. The best way to really replace rear shocks on a 2005 Altima would be to take it to a mechanic.
Yes, most definitely. You must always replace struts and shocks in pairs. Replace one front shock or strut then you must replace both. Same for the rear.
with a new one
Jack it up, Remove Tire, Undo the two bolts on the Shock Absorbers take old one off, reverse to complete
What type of vehicle? paul 1997 camero rs convertable If you have coil springs in the rear, you need to have two jacks. One will jack up the car up to take the tire off and be able to get to the shocks. The second jack will be used to stabilize the bottom of the coil pan so it doesn't drop down once you remove the shock and it will stay in perfect position to replace the new shock.
You basically lift up the car, remove the rear wheels , get a portable lift that can sustain the rear axle , and remove the two screws that hold the shock absorber in place. That's how i did mine , but i work in a garage , so i had everything i needed. I guess you should also be able to do it with the car on the ground , by simply using two hydraulic lifts, one to lift the car, and one to hold the rear axle. You need to do one wheel at a time , even if you do it on the ground or in a garage. The rear shock absorbers on the mark 4 are easy to replace, among the easiest i've ever done. The story changes drastically if you need to replace the front shock absorbers , and for that , i suggest you to have the job done at a garage you're familiar with. You could also do it yourself , but you need a lift like those you see in a garage, because you need to lift up the car, and loose a bit the sub frame to successfully remove the shocks( if you don't do that, the axle will hit the sub frame, and you won't be able to lower enough the suspension knuckle to remove it from the shock absorber).
The strut and coil spring need to be removed from the vehicle to replace the mount. Place the rear of the vehicle on jack stands. Take off your rear wheels. Remove the plastic cover on the top of the rear wheel well from the inside of the back of the vehicle. Remove the three small nuts, NOT the large one in the middle. Remove the sway bar link from the shock. Remove the brake line clip from the shock. Remove the speed sensor clip from the shock. Remove the two bolts from the bottom of the shock. You can now remove the shock. With a spring compressor, compress the spring until you can wiggle the mount. Remove the large nut from the center of the mount. Remove the spacer that is under the nut. You can now remove the bad strut mount.
Replace them in pairs. If you replace one front, replace both. One rear, both.
Inside your rear door, are 2 "Stay Assemblies" or "Shock Absorbers". One or both have lost the charge of hydraulic fluid. You need to replace your defective stay assembly. They are available at your Honda dealer for about $50 each.
