YES, you can. if you brush them too hard they can bleed and that's not good. if you brush them so hard they bleed all the time, you can get infections in the cuts you are creating.

Brushing your tooth too hard can also cause gum recession. And if you brush your teeth horizontally it can damage your tooth necks. Here's a video with more info about problems that can be caused by brushing your teeth the wrong way -

You probably wont but the following will happen if you do-

"If you brush too hard or with too hard of a brush it could cause a couple problems. It could make your gums recede or pull back and/or it can cause you to wear away the enamel or root surface on your tooth. You should brush gently with a soft or extrasoft toothbrush. The goal of brushing is to remove plaque, which is soft, it doesn't require scrubbing or hard bristles to remove it. If it has a chance to turn hard, into tartar, no amount of brushing will remove it. You have to have it removed with a professional dental cleaning"

This is not an excuse for you to not brush your teeth at all just saying that brushing your teeth too hard is not good.

Learn the Proper Techniques to Brush Safely and EffectivelyYou might assume adding pressure to your toothbrush will aid in removing stains, but you could be doing more harm than good by brushing your teeth too hard.

Maybe you made the mistake I did in not realizing that brushing your teeth too hard can actually cause gum recession. I assumed that if any damage were to be done by brushing my teeth too hard, my gums would heal or re-grow. This assumption is not a safe one to make. Because habits are hard to break, and teeth-brushing is a repetitive, day-to-day activity, it is important to have the correct technique of brushing your teeth so that you do not cause gum recession to happen. If it does happen, you could have serious tooth sensitivity and pain. I was warned by my dentist that I needed to use a gentler stroke next to my gum line. He explained that when gum recessionhappens, it can actually expose the nerves beneath the surface of the gums- nerves connected to my teeth that will cause pain while eating, drinking, and brushing. This didn't seem like a pleasant fate to me, so I resolved to learn the proper way of brushing my teeth.

Your gums need the right amount of stimulation. Too much pressure and you are in danger of damaging your gums, but ignoring them altogether can lead to gum disease and a build-up of plaque. According to the American Dental Association, "Plaque also produces substances that irritate the gums, making them red, tender or bleed easily." Plaque and tartar often develop along the gum line, but do not attempt to over-brush this area if your teeth don't become clean after a regular brushings. A trip to the dentist is in order. If you notice that your gums are pulling away from teeth, or that your gums seem to recede more on one tooth than the others, you may be brushing too hard. The ADA further explains on their website the basic tips of brushing your teeth. For our purposes of gum health, note that you should hold your tooth brush at a forty-five degree angle against your gum-line.

As long as you use a soft toothbrush and brush correctly (up and down), you should have great dental health no matter how much you brush your teeth. Otherwise, you may cause your gums to erode.

Can you brush teeth too much?

You can but I do not suggest it, 2 times daily is enough, after breakfast and before bed. But if you eat something sugary, say, Cake, it can help rid away the cavity-makers. There are 2 risks when brushing your teeth too often. The first is that the teeth enamel (the teeth coating layer) might wear out with too many brushing. The second issue is generating pressure on the gums, which weakens them and might cause gingivitis in some (rare)cases.Another AnswerI brush my teeth 2 times a day. Once in the morning and Once before I go to bed. Many people say to brush your teeth after every meal, but that's too hard to remember! haha XD
