Not knowing the make or the model it is impossible to guess. Generally you would have to change the radiator, run the transmission lines and change out flywheel and possibly driveshaft.
With older cars (early hydramatics, for example), you do not have to change the radiator and there ae no transmission lines, but in addition to changing the flywheel and driveshaft, you also have to add the linkage to the carburetor.
You might need to change the ECM (computer) and you may be able to put in an oil cooler instead of changing the radiator.
Another way to go would be to contact your local automotive junk yard and purchase a wrecked vehicle that is the same as yours except automatic. The vehicle would need to be damaged in a way that doesn't effect the parts you are interested in. You would then have everything needed to swap over including peddle assembly, steering column or console, linkages, wiring, switches, crossmember, flywheel, driveshaft, correct speedometer gears, cooling lines, radiator and so on.
Yes, it can be done, but it is much harder to change from an A/T to a Manual than from a Manual to an A/T. You will need a donor car for all the parts needed, otherwise the cost would be extremely high. Realize you will have to install a clutch pedal, different brake pedal, and a floor shifter to control the transmission. My advice is to sell the vehicle you now own and buy one with a Manual transmission if that is what you want. You will be money ahead.
yes u can.. and it depends on what car u have...
To change from an automatic to manual transmission in a Ford Bronco, you will have to fine a transmission that bolts up to the engine. The transmission mounts have to be changed. The shifter has to be changed along with adding an entire clutch system including a pedal. This will require brackets, drilling in the firewall and possibly welding under the dash.
In the past a manual transmission equipped vehicle would always get better fuel mileage. But on cars built in the last 5 years that is not always true. There are some vehicles where the A/T equipped vehicle gets as good or better fuel mileage than a manual. Especially cars equipped with a CVT automatic transmission.
i think so
Your mustang with a manual transmission takes automatic transmission fluid. the capacity is 5.6 Pts (US). The fill plug is located on the side of the transmission. Macs Transmissions 281-394-4951 Macstransmissions@gmail.com
By selling this car and buying another one with a manual. Unless you have a donor car, with all the parts, this would be cost prohibitive.
You can change a manual transmission to an automatic. It can cost upwards of 3,000 dollars to do this for a Volkswagen Polo.
If your transmission is manual, you will have to change gear. If it is automatic, you won't.
A parts car like yours with an automatic transmission.
If it has an automatic transmission, then yes. If it has a manual transmission, then usually, no.
£3000
yes, you can make almost any vehicle with an automatic transmission manual, but it is usually not worth the expense, you have to get your hands on the manual transmission then you have to modify the floor for the shifter and put in a clutch & linkage all in all not usually worth it
It will cost between $1500 and $3000 to change your automatic transmission to a manual transmission. The price is dependent upon the type of manual transmission.
It can cost between $500 and $2000 to change a manual transmission to an automatic transmission. The labor costs will depend on the specific shop charges.
Yes, if you have lots of money. Bad idea! Sell the A/T car and buy a manual.
Converting a manual transmission to automatic transmission is not possible but you can replace a manual transmission to an automativ transmission . That is also an expensive deal.
The ECU for an automatic can be used in a manual transmission. However, it will not work vice-versa with the ECU from a manual transmission in an automatic.
No. They are two different transmissions.
