Can you use pool salt in your pool with out the salt water system?

Sure, you CAN, but why would you want to? The purpose of the salt in a saltwater system equipped pool is to provide the chlorine the saltwater system generates. It would be the same as having a saltwater system pool that the saltwater system went bad and you just installed an inline chlorinator in the Plumbing instead of replacing the saltwater chlorine generator system so you could add chlorine with the tablets.

∙ 16y agoA sand filter and a pool pump are two separate entities not one. A sand filter is just that === a filter. period. The pump or circulating pump - not a sand filter pump - is just what the name implies --- a pump -- it pumps water. period. Converting to a salt system has nothing to do with wither the pump or the filter. A slat water system is a totally separate unit with a device contained within a cylinder type apparatis controlled or operated electronically that is plumbed into your pool's circulation system. It converts salt - that which you pour into the pool - swimming pool salt - not rock salt or table salt - ---into chlorine. YOU CAN NOT JUST POUR SALT INTO A POOL AND CALL IT A SALT SYSTEM. And yes, you could probably convert to a salt system.

∙ 16y agoit is not recommended if you have steel walls exposed because the splash out will quickly eat away at them. you could build am impremeable wall around the steel walls however, salt in the air will still attack them rapidly. It is not recommended and we as a company do not install them on above grounds for this reason.

∙ 14y agoIf you are refering to chlorine generated from the salt, the chlorine generator would be required. In my experience, all other components used in the traditional chlorine pool can remain in use. The salt alone will not keep the pool from becoming unsafe to swim in.
