No you can't. As the term implies, a title loan is given using the title to a particular piece of property as security (be this a car, boat, house etc). As such, the loan can only be granted to the person whose name appears on the title.

What is a title loan?

A title loan is also known as car title loan. It is a type of secured loan where you can use your vehicle title as collateral to get the funds you need. When you borrow with your car title, you allow the lender to place a lien on the title of your car, SUV, RV, truck, or motorcycle in exchange for a loan amount. This loan don't rely on your credit score.

can the underwriter stipulate who can be on the title when there are two people on the loan?

From what I have read, no, a underwriter cannot stipulate who goes on the title if the loan is in more than one person's name. Normally, both names that are on a loan have to go on the title of the purchase from the loan.

Can you register a vehicle if the loan is in someone elses name?

If your name is on the title

If you get a loan in your name can the car be titled in another name?

No. I recently took a car loan for my son because his credit is bad. The loan is in my name, the title is in his name only. He is listed on the loan as the 'holder of colateral'.

Your son gave you a truck as a gift you are on the title vehicle is insured and registered in your name He is in default on his loan Can the bank repossess your vehicle?

If there is a loan against the car then the bank is on the title and they own the car, your name would be on the registration but not on the title, so yes they can repo it. If you have the actual title in hand then their is no loan on it and you own the car.

Would your credit score be affected if you have your name in title but not in the loan?

Your credit score is only affected if (1) your name is on the loan and (2) you are a primary borrower. However, if there is a loan that is used to secure a title (to either a boat or car), until the loan is paid off, the lender's name is on the title, not yours (unless, of course, you are lending the money that bought the vehicle).

If you cosigned for an auto loan and your name is on the title do you have a right to the auto?

Absolutely, name exists on title therefore you are part owner.

If the title to a car is in your name but the name for the car loan is in someone elses name who has legal ownership?

If only your name is on the title and the loan is not listed as a lien on that title then you are the legal owner. If someone else obtained a car loan for you then their name should be on the title to the car with yours. The question of ownership should be addressed if someone was kind enough to borrow money for you to have a car. The car should have full insurance coverage in case of an accident.
