Can you help you your 2004 Chevy 4 cylinder after 3 trips to the shop for check engine light and running rough now you have white smoke from tailpipe and again running rough but no light whats going?

check the oil in engine to see if it has coolant in it
white smoke is caused by coolant or water burning with fuel
sounds like you have a blown head gasket
i would also find a better mechanic
