Here is what happened, my family had a computer. Then we moved out to Pennsylvania and got a new one, then for Christmas we got another one. So we have three computers, problem is one of them has a virus that prevents us from getting on the internet and the anti-virus needs to be updated to fix the problem using the internet. During the move we lost the windows xp opperating disk. So what im trying to do is get Linux, the freeware operating system onto a disk and moving it to the computer to install Linux so we can use it again. But, I don't want to install it Linux on the computer that I put it on the disk from. So I want to know, can I get Linux on a disk without instaling Linux on the computer that I put it on the disk from. Please if you know how tell me I'm desprate.

Install Vista first. During the installation of OpenSUSE, you will be prompted if you would like to partition the hard drive to make room for OpenSUSE, or format the drive entirely for OpenSUSE. Make a partition of at least 6 GB, plus a swap partition of 1 GB. The installer will automatically install a bootloader known as GRUB, which can boot Vista or OpenSUSE at your choosing.
You need to re-install Windows on the other. Or change the harddrives in the computer, so the Master will be a Slave and Vice versa.
backspace or delete...
Try to re-install Skype.
Ubuntu cannot harm your computer's hardware at all. If you dont have much experience with installing operating systems, and try to install ubuntu, there's a possibility that you can overwrite all the data that is currently on the hard drive. However, if you are installing Ubuntu on a blank hard drive, then there is no harm that can be done by doing so. Ubuntu is a very useful linux-based operating system.
Its probably a firewall, or a glitch. if you un-install and then re-install it and it doesn't work, your computer most likely isn't compatible. If its a netbook of under 800x by 600x, then it needs bigger screen. Hope this helped.
Most probably you have selected the wrong drivers when installing.
use a Linux CD like ubuntu. run it without make installation.with Linux file explorer find blank torrent files and simple delete it. peri.nic.
Another user of that computer could log in with his password and may be able to change your password. Administrator status is probably required. Sometimes the repair or install CD that came with the computer (or was made when the computer was new) has a feature to clear the passwords. Careful, these disks can also restore the computer to original condition, deleting your files. There is a password resetting Linux CD that you can boot from and blank your Windows password. It is possible to download the free CD image and create your own CD, but it is much easier to borrow one. The one I have is quite easy to use and works every time.
