Sure, why not? Let us know how that works out for you if you manage to do it. I promise you that no shop will do it and the dealer will just laugh at you.
Honestly, it can be done but do you really want to?
No
If the 96 Transmission is a 5speed and the 2001 prelude is a 5speed, the mount from the 2001 Transmission should bolt up to the 96 Transmission and be a Direct Bold on Replacement.
this is morally wrong on many levels it is not for humans to play god
NO
Yes
On the valve body inside the transmission.
Automatic transmission fluid.Automatic transmission fluid.
NO. The 97 and 96 transmission bellhousing are different then any other years. You must put a 96 or 97 4L60E transmission back in it.
You add transmission fluid down the transmission dipstick tube.
The engine computer on the firewall also handles the transmission.
The transmission fluid on a 96 Pontiac Grand Am SE is put into the filler tube on the left side of the engine. It runs directly into the top of the transmission and also contains a dipstick to check fluid levels.
NO. That year must have the 4L60E transmission put back in it if it is a 1/2 ton. The 3/4 tons must have the 4L80E put in them. If you put the 700R4 in it the engine will never run right and you will have NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS due to the computer system on the 96 truck. The ONLY 2 years that will interchange with the 96 is a 96 or 97 transmission. No other years will work.
