Yes you could. That belt is only for the AC.
you have to remove the belt tensioner to remove the belt off of the engine.
Remove the serpentine belt and remove the alternator. The belt tensioner bolts are under the alternator.
It depends on the mower. Some you will need to remove the deck. Some you will have to remove the deck mounting brackets. Others will change without removing anything. For detailed info please ask again with the make and model of the mower.
Look and see if it is driving anything else. As far as driving it without a belt, I would not advice you even attempt this. The steering would be extremely difficult and it would be dangerous. Buy a new belt and install it.

If you are referring to the Serpentine belt, you loosen no pulley. You simply remove tension from the belt. The tension is applied by the Idler Pulley. Remove four bolts that hold transaxle remove belt pulley and belt guard. remove shift linkage remove spring tensioner. then remove whole transaxle. Remove four bolts that hold transaxle remove belt pulley and belt guard. remove shift linkage remove spring tensioner. then remove whole transaxle.
Loosen the component slide it towards the engine to lossen the belt, remove belt. Install in reverse. If the fan is your problem it is held on with 4 small bolts, remove them and the fan. P/S you should be able to work the belt around the fan blades without removing the fan. On_mitch
I believe the only thing that belt was driving is the AC compressor. Check to make sure that the belt wasn't turning anything else. If all it was driving was the compressor, and you don't need to use the ac, you can drive your car without that belt.
