The easiest way to do this is to ensure your syphon hose hits the far side of the tank and then goes straight down without finding itself in the 'belly tank'.
Another way is to simply remove the bed, exposing the tank, take the pump out of the tank (has six screws I believe), and then easily syphon from the bottom of the tank. The 'belly tank' is easy to see and easy to get a hose around.
