you may have in correct dipstick in vehicle OR clean the dipstick and then re-check.... or if its an older 5.0 engine, there is 2 drain plugs...

Turn car on but don't start the engin. Pump breaks a couple times. Turn Key to off then start engin all the way. Light should be off.

Yes, but if you're putting in oil after draining it, you do not want to start the engine with no oil in the pan. Instead, add oil until you see it on the dipstick, start it and run it long enough to fill up the oil filters, shut it off, then fill it to the fill line.
