Without any mods, NO you need a stand alone computer to run 42RLE. Powertrain control solutions will build you one. You need the original wires from the tranny to the fire wall . Send the wires to them and they will marry it to their computer. I want to do the same thing. I would buy a tranny and Tcase as a unit out of a wreck then the splines will be correct. Jeep used several shaft lengths and splines. Don, virgo6281@Yahoo.com

NV3550 manual transmission: 1.98L, 4.2 pints. 42RLE automatic transmission: 3.8L, 8 pints for a service fill, 8.3L, 17.6 pints if it has been overhauled. The NV3550 uses Mopar Manual Transmission Lubricant. You can also use Royal Purple Syncromax fluid, this is what I filled mine with and it shifts worlds better than what it used to. The 42RLE uses ATF+4 fluid, nothing else. If you use anything else, it will burn up.
Not without disassembling the transmission and changing the rear half of the case. Not without disassembling the transmission and changing the rear half of the case.
The Jeep could have been through deep water that was over the transmission height without the breather lines extended.

The ax5 ( for 4 cyl )will fit up to 1996, and the ax15 is good thru 99. as for the auto trans you'd have to look at it but, The 32RH automatic transmission was used in 1992 to 1995 and 1997-2002 Wrangler with 6 cyl.
