You can mix the two because they are not the same medication. However I would not take anything else with acetaminophen (AKA Tylenol) such as NyQuil or Neoproxin (AKA Motrin) You should always consult a doctor before you do anything with medication.

Can you give a nine month old Tylenol in between giving them Motrin?

Yes, you can. You can alternate Tylenol (acetaminophen) with Motrin (ibuprofen) every four hours. This can significantly help when trying to fight a fever.

Can you take 1000 mg Tylenol every 5 hours to reduce fever?

Yes but, if you have Motrin that is a better choice.

Tylenol and Motrin 800 is it safe to take together?

Yes, but not for extended periods, less than a week. Do not exceed 650mg Tylenol and 800mg Motrin per dose. Dose no more often than every 8 hours. Or you can alternate them every 4 hours.

Can you use Tylenol tablets by mouth and Tylenol suppositories at the same time to lower fever?

The maximum amount of acetaminophen (Tylenol, Motrin) that can be taken a day is 4000mg. The maximum one dose (every 4 to 6 hours) is 1500mg. Whether you make a combination of oral and anal doesn't matter as long as you do not cross those limits. -Jennapsyche

What is maximum dose of ibuprofen and acetaminophen when taken together?

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) passes though the liver, while Ibuprofen (Motrin) is passed through your kidneys. You can take your dosage (based on your weight ) for either medications at the same time safely. As a PA in the pediatric ER we do tell parents that they can give their child BOTH Tylenol and Motrin to help fight a bad fever. We like to have them have some overlap time because then the fever is covered (Take Tylenol 1st and 2 hours later take Motrin). Most of the time we just suggest straight Motrin (more than Tylenol) because the overlap can be confusing and their is a higher risk of Tylenol overdose than with Motrin. Remember Asprin (Acetylsalicylic acid) is different than Motrin/Advil (Ibuprofen) and Tylenol (Acetaminphen) and should NOT be given to children because it can cause Reyes Syndrome.

How can 3 week old baby have fever?

Infants at that age can have a fever for varying reasons. Until they are 2 months of age, a fever above 101 degrees Fahrenheit should be taken seriously. Contact your physician for treatment ASAP. This isn't something to panic about, but just to be monitored closely. Usually a treatment of infant Tylenol and infant Motrin are ordered. After 2 months of age a fever of 103 or less is not alone something to panic about. If it doesn't go down with infant Tylenol lasts longer then 24 hours, or is accompanied any other symptoms contact your child's physician.

Can you take Tylenol and methocarbamol?

Yes. However you should NOT mix NSAIDS - Motrin (ibuprofen), Aleve (naproxen), etc. with aspirin. Tylenol can be safely mixed with many other drugs including aspirin & narcotics that do not already contain Tylenol (acetaminophen). But ALWAYS check with your doctor or pharmacist first!

Can I take advil after taking tylonal?

you can take Tylenol and advil....when my son was running a high fever..dr.told me to alternate the 2 every 2 hrs instead of just taking Tylenol every 4 hours

Can you take 2 advil then three hours later take 800mg ibuprofen?

Tylenol is acetaminophen, and Motrin is an ibuprofen. They can be taken together, I am a nurse and have done it many times myself, and for my patients. Just make sure you are giving the appropriate doses of both medications, and then yes, they can be given at the same time.

How do you reduce a fever?

make your body really warm. wrap yourself with blankets. don't put anything on your face. you should have a warm bath and drink gingerale but no dairy products and avoid spagetti sauce cus it will make you puke and you should eat vegtable soup but only have a little bit at a time mabie a quarter to a half a bowl every couple hours and apple juice is good to drink but don't drink water cus it usaully makes you feel worse and take tylenyal/acetaminophen then 4 -6 hours later take ibuprofen/Motrin and altranate between tylanyal and Motrin and see waht works best

Can ibuprofen be given to infants sooner than 6 to 8 hours?

FDA has approved Tylenol for under 6 months. No good studies have been done to see if Ibuprofen/Motrin is safe. It should be and if kiddo is over 2 months, and has a fever with a source (know from where) then Ibuprofen should be fine if Tylenol isn't quite enough. Under 2 months -- you need to be checked by an MD as may have a serious bacterial infection needing possible advanced ER/Hospital care.

IS Tylenol 3 or Motrin 800 stronger?

800 ibuprofen will not get ride of your pain like tylenol codeine 3 will but it lasts longer (4 hours vs. 6 hours). Doctor usually prescribe ibuprofen for daytime use so you can still drive and function with little to no pain. Tylenol codeine 3 will get rid of your pain but you shouldn't drive or operate machinery on it. Really it depends on your situation and what your doctor prescribes (don't take either of these without consulting your doctor first).
