Yes you can, but care should be taken to avoid getting water inside your carburetor (if equipped) or your engine's air intake and throttle body. You may also wish to make use of an engine degreaser product (available at most auto parts stores) to aid in cleaning.
Also keep in mind that your engine likely is covered, at least partially, in petroleum oils, which are not particularly environmentally friendly. Consider taking it to a commercial U-do or they-do pressure wash facility. Those that allow engine washing are normally equipped to filter petroleum products from the waste wash water to prevent it from damaging the environment.
I DISSAGREE. I have a 1990 Ford Ranger 2.3. I rebuilt my transmission and my truck ran perfectly. I opened the hood to wash the motor with (degreaser). and now my truck will not start. I don't know what the problem is but from what i understand i fried my ECU which is one of the most expensive parts on your car.
I AGREE. The solution is simple, be careful what you wash. Don't use super high pressure that will get all over parts you don't want went. Don't wash things like your ECU. This is a delicate piece of hardware that shouldn't get wet if you can help it. Anything that looks delicate or electronics, don't wash them. Also, it's a very good idea to make sure the engine is cooled off first. you should be able to touch the engine block without burning yourself before washing it. If you wash a hot engine, you can risk cracking the block (rare, but has happened). In general, if you have no mechanical knowledge and know what stuff under the hood is for the most part, then don't do it. Otherwise you'll end up like the previous editor of this question with a friend "something" and wish you hadn't worried about pressure washing. By the way, there can be benefits to pressure washing, but the most part people only do it to make it easier to work on things and/or help your engine radiate heat better (would have to be very dirty to actually make a difference here).
well its quite simple spray it down with a hose , dry it off then oil it
1. Open the radiator cap. 2. Disconnect the top radiator hose. 3. Run the engine for a couple of minutes with the hose off. 4. Insert tap water hose into the radiator where the top hose should be. 5. Run water into the radiator until clear water comes out of the radiator top hose. 6. Continue idling the engine, remove the tap water hose from the radiator, shut off engine as soon as the water stops coming out of the top water hose of the radiator. 7. Reconnect top water hose and fill radiator with antifreeze. Start engine and top off antifreeze.
you must first put on your yamaha hose adapter for your garden hose. then without turning the water on plug the hose into the yamaha. there should be a place to put the hose in the engine compartment. then start your engine the turn the water on. make sure the water never on when the engine is off. let the pwc run at idle speed for 240 seconds (4 mins). then turn the water off and shut down your engine. gracias
with your hand and soapy water and a hose you waterhead
water
Right off the water pump, upper hose, right side of engine (from the front)
If your roses have aphids spray with an insecticide. If you are organic use soapy water or wash off with a hose.
Because there is antifreeze int he system and it takes a while to burn through. Also replace the bottom hose too. <> If it smokes from under the hood, It has antifreeze on the engine exterior, You can wash it off. Or just drive it and it will burn off. If it smokes from the exhaust, There is engine damage.
carries water from and to the engine to the radiator for cooling, there are 2 and contain hot water when the engine is running and will still be hot and pressurerised for an hour after the motor is shut off.
Look for the radiator hose that is coming off of the bottom of the radiator. Follow it back to the engine. The thing on the engine that the other end of the hose is attached to should be the water pump. JPS.
Either with a high pressure hose and some soapy water or just use a normal hose with some soapy water. Dont worry about drying, on your first drive after the wash the wind will take off all the residue
